About the Invitational
Justin sucks at golf. But since misery loves company, he made it his goal to drag as many people to the game as possible. The company quickly became more important than the score, which continued to grow the passion for getting people together for a round of golf. This lead to several outings and convincing lots of folks to buy clubs for years.
After a successful bachelor party golf outing that sparked more friends to join the game, Justin and Lauren decided to make a bigger effort to drive the social side of golf as much as possible. This quickly started the yearly tradition of forcing people to play together and hack at golf balls while cursing loudly. Prayers could be heard from across the course hoping a putt would miraculously fall, or at least that the beer cart was coming around again soon.
In the Fall of 2018, Lauren, Justin, and 6 friends went to Myrtle Beach for a weekend in the fall for the first ever Fox Invitational Tournament. While the group was small, the competition was fierce as teams of 2 prayed at least one of their tee balls was still in play. The first year ended in a nail-biter to the very end, so much that even the most novice golfer was greenside waiting to see who would take home the win. We knew this wouldn’t be the last trip
From there, we continue to grow the event year after year, with a primary focus of bringing new people who may not play often or are growing a passion for the game, and ensuring they have just as good a chance as anyone to take home the cup. Each year we have looked at ways to continue to improve parity (read: chaos) and social aspects of the event and meet new people to grow our golfing community.
We also look for opportunities to help out others that strive to get into the game by taking charity donations for First Tee of the Triangle, who also share our passion for opportunity and growth.
